IC Information
Name: Mia
Age: 16
Canon: Golden Sun
Physical Description: 1, 2
Possessions: Mia's primary possession is a staff topped with a symbol that looks much like an ankh. She uses this in part for self-defense and in part because it's an important family heirloom that she keeps with her.
Companion: A koalaotter by the name of Fizz
Personality:
Mia is a 17-year-old girl who has grown up somewhat sheltered from the rest of the world. Being part of the well-to-do almost-nobility ranks of the Northern Water Tribe, she's been sheltered somewhat to the rest of the world, only up until recently focusing all of her time and thought to the preservation of the Northern Water Tribe. To those ends, she is incredibly loyal to her brethren; while she doesn't consider them necessarily above or better than the other nations of the world, most of her personal bonds are in the North, and she remains strongly committed to protecting her people in the face of disaster, both offensively if she is capable but also defensively as a healer.
But beyond her loyalty to her nation is an intense loyalty to other people. To her, the people who are closest to her in life are the most important people, and she easily forms bonds with others when given the chance. Especially when someone is sick or in need of care, Mia will tirelessly devote herself towards the protection and healing of others. She will stick with friends through and through regardless of the circumstances, even travelling across the world with others and exhausting herself of all her strength for the safety of others. Even perfect strangers she's willing to lend a helping hand to save because, to her, there's always an opportunity to do good.
This loyalty was instilled in her partially because of her strong sense of passion as well as her prim and proper upbringing. Mia is a generally happy person, but when faced with adversity, Mia will set herself to the task and commit herself fervently to those ends, even when doing so would require personal sacrifice or hardship. She is always willing to choose what is right over what is convenient. Furthermore, these values were instilled upon her by her parents and, then later, her grandparents, who have been some of the more important members of the Northern Water Tribe. While Mia isn't a goody-two-shoes, she does have a strong sense of being proper and to bring honor to her tribe and to her family. Part of that is about doing the right thing, upholding justice, and making sure she doesn't jeopardize her family's name.
As mentioned before, Mia is generally happy and optimistic. When surrounded by friends, she is frequently jovial and playful, occasionally having a small degree of a sense of humour that is augmented by a strong intelligence underneath. However, Mia isn't a true extrovert by nature; she is more of an introvert and can be shy when out in the world, speaking softly and only when necessary, and outsiders will probably notice these qualities more than her sense of humour. With friends and with others, she can occasionally be subtly stern if they choose; she never quite descends to the level of reprimanding others, but instead she gently nudges others and reminds them of their obligations and unfulfilled promises. In that sense she can act as a mother or a mentor figure to others. She rarely raises her voice, though those who betray her or really press her buttons can raise her to the level of anger and frustration.
Physically, she's not the most adept at speed or strength; however her bending is quite capable, and she is—if not quite a master bender—close to it. She has trained both in the offensive and defensive arts and can manipulate ice, water, and healing. She's not the strongest waterbender out there, and frequently her cousin has been capable of beating her in one-on-one duels. However, she is strong enough where she takes on the mantle of teaching and educating others in the craft. When teaching, she is patient and kind, always seeking to enhance her apprentices' skills rather than undercut them at every turn.

History:
Mia's history is inspired from the beginning events of her introduction from Golden Sun. Considering that the entire story of Golden Sun requires an Avatar-esque breadth to tell, and that would detract from the canon characters, I decided instead to treat her introduction solely as the introduction.
Mia and her cousin Alex are among those that guard the Moon and Ocean SPirits Tui and La at the North Temple (akin to their history protecting the Mercury Lighthouse in the actual game). Mia is a priestess of sorts, trained as a healer as many women of the Northern Water Tribe are, and she has also been in touch with the spiritual energy at the North Pole's portal to the Spirit World back when Unalaq was the chieftain of the Northern Water Tribe. Her cousin Alex was also under his employ, though his skills were more offensive, his role more of a warrior. While the two are not nobility, they definitely both come from the more respected clans of the Northern Water Tribe. Her parents have not been alive for sometime, and she instead was raised by her grandparents instead, whom she cared for. It was they that taught her the spiritual ways of the Northern Water Tribe and convinced her to become one of the guardians of Tui and La.
After the revelation that Unalaq had betrayed the Water Tribe and the Avatar as a member of the Red Lotus, Mia's cousin became a little more isolated. Mia never discovered the reason until after Zaheer's defeat as Alex to some degree was helping out with that initiative. Despite all this, it wasn't until the Spirit Barrier came about that accusations came about that Alex had been a staunch supporter of Unalaq, that even now he seeks a new way of finding and unleashing the power of Vaatu. Mia, in disbelief, has been tasked to find Alex, who had managed to escape the Northern Water Tribe before the Spirit Barrier came to be. Once the Spirit Barrier fell, she begins her journey to find him by going to Republic City to determine if there is any truth to the rumours and if her cousin has betrayed her people just as Unalaq had.

Suggested Nationality: Northern Water Tribe
Why?: In Golden Sun, Mia is from the north and is able to wield ice/water magic. I also feel that Northern Water Tribe works better with the history that I'm going to give her given that her cousin Alex was out (in game) to steal the power of Alchemy, which would closely tie him in with the Red Lotus' (or more specifically Unalaq's) ambitions.
Bending: Waterbender
Subset: Healing

Backtagging: To infinity and beyond! Okay. At least within reason. There's probably a shelf life for these things, but I don't know what that is yet. Just... tag anyway?
Threadhopping: Generally A-OK, though if it's more of a thread with the feels, maybe ask? Do ask the other mun though!
Fourthwalling: Preferably not, but if you really want to, let me know.
Offensive subjects (elaborate): I'm not easily offended, but if you think it's borderline, feel free to ask!

Hugging this character: Sure! Mia loves hugs!
Kissing this character: Only if your character is a boy. Also, maybe ask first or else things will get really awkward really fast?
Flirting with this character: Sure? But it probably won't work unless you've got a Y chromosome.
Fighting with this character: Generally alright.
Injuring this character (include limits and severity): Let's talk first.
Killing this character: DEFINITELY let's talk first.
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: Generally alright, though talk to me first if you're wanting to powerplay that.
Warnings: None really. Mia is pretty E for Everyone.

I would welcome all the constructive criticism you can give me! Bolin is a fairly new muse of mine, and I'm still wrangling him into submission. But I want to hear good news fast and bad news faster. So let me know how I'm doing—good or bad!
